The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA) has held its Annual Training Achievement Awards in Melbourne. The awards recognise apprentices and trainees who have achieved excellence in the early stages of their career with AMCA member companies.
The awards were hosted by former Olympian, Nicole Livingstone. She introduced the individual winners in three categories:
- Engineering drafting: Semir Sevic (Ellis Air)
- Refrigeration and air conditioning: Chris Adams (A.G. Coombs)
- Mechanical plumbing: Ciaran Lording (Allstaff).
Finalists were assessed across criteria including career and study achievements, communication, teamwork, leadership skills and community service.
“All three finalists have demonstrated an outstanding attitude and dedication to their training and development, and will no doubt go on to make great contributions to our industry,” said AMCA Executive Director, Sumit Oberoi.
Semir Sevic, a drafting trainee with Ellis Air, was awarded the Training Achievement Award for 2019.
Having worked in various fields before taking up drafting, including a formative stint in duct manufacturing, Sevic was praised as a dedicated trainee. In accepting the award, he paid tribute to his colleagues and his supportive work environment.
“Semir is a well-deserving winner and will make a great ambassador and future leader of the HVAC industry,” said Oberoi.
“We look forward to observing the careers of Semir, Chris and Ciaran over the coming years.”
Each finalist received a cash prize with an equivalent donation made on their behalf to their preferred charity.
