Australian Industry Standards (AIS) has named Paul Walsh as its new CEO.
AIS is a skills service organisation that is responsible for working with industry experts to develop and update training packages and qualifications. This includes the UEE Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Walsh has spent eight years with AIS, including the past four as its Chief Operating Officer.
Described by AIS as an energetic and visionary leader, Walsh is said to possess comprehensive knowledge of the vocational education and training (VET) system and policy.
“Paul is ideally placed to take over the responsibility and see the organisation forward on its journey as a leading skills service provider to support industry with its workforce development needs and the Australian economy more broadly,” says AIS Board Chair Laurie D’Apice.
“Paul has a strong focus and proven ability in building connections across a range of key industries and stakeholders to support skills development and to contribute positively to Australia’s workforce capability.”
D’Apice says Walsh’s diverse background, including more than 30 years in the transport industry, brings with it a deep understanding of business needs.
“I am focused on further building our expertise and strong industry connections to deliver innovative approaches to support the workforce of the future,” says Walsh. “The team at AIS is committed to making a real difference to people’s lives and supporting the life-long learning continuum. I will continue to set a high bar to ensure we deliver our vision to skill Australia’s workforce, for better lives and a sustainable and prosperous nation.”
Walsh replaces long-time CEO Robert Adams in the role.
AIS is an independent, not-for-profit skills service organisation.
